Miller’s Minuteman Press has a lot to be proud of these days. First they received the Carroll County Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award. Then in June they became the first Carroll County business to win a Maryland Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award.
According to Keith Miller, CEO of Miller’s Minuteman Press, being a part of the Chamber has been a positive experience. “It has enabled us to increase our networking efforts within the Carroll County community. The Chamber creates an environment that fosters the opportunity to build lasting business and personal relationships. This has allowed us to actively promote our company and create brand awareness among the Chamber members and their respective businesses.”
For those of you unfamiliar with the award-winning Miller’s Minuteman Press, it is a full-service marketing, design, print and production company. It supplies and manufactures quality printed materials, graphic design, direct mail and promotional products. Customers include businesses of all sizes and sectors, as well as non-profit and government agencies.
The company has a very interesting history. Keith relocated from South Africa to Baltimore in 1999 and arrived in a new country with no business contacts and a very limited social network. Without knowing American business practices and having limited family and friends to draw experience from, Keith began the quest for a business and decided to follow the franchise route. Later that year, with no print experience, Keith purchased a Minuteman Press franchise near Pikesville. In ten short years, Keith has grown the business by acquiring four additional stores in Westminster, Towson, Hunt Valley, and Lutherville, along with a Central Production Facility.
Keith enjoys being part of the Carroll County community. “As a local Carroll County business, we are committed to making a positive contribution to our community and enjoy being actively involved in supporting local business and encouraging community growth. The Carroll County community has been most supportive and we have enjoyed developing mutually beneficial relationships with fellow local business owners.”
When asked which aspect of his business makes him most proud, Keith first mentions his employees. “I am extremely proud and honored to have an unbelievable team of people who work tirelessly to make our company a success. Our business family rallies around the needs of our customers daily to ensure that each job, large or small, is completed with 100% satisfaction.” Keith also takes great pride in his commercial print capabilities and being the only printer in Maryland to use two of the latest generation Direct Imaging Presses.

As for the future, Keith looks forward to opening more successful stores in the Maryland area and gaining more market share. “Like most entrepreneurs, we get caught up in running the business and forget to take the time to count our blessings. Personally, in the future, I hope to take the time to reflect and enjoy the benefits of hard work.”
